We had to read "My Freshman Year" by Rebekah Nathan. It seems to be a good read. Dr. Nathan, being an cultural anthropologist, was able to get a more personal look into life as a current freshman. She encountered the same obstacles that me, as well as the other classmates encountered. She mentioned at the beginning that her and some other professors thought that current students seemed lazier than before. But when she got in trouble for drinking in the lounge and said that she "forgot" to read the manual, it occurred to me that she was being just as lazy herself. Dr. Nathan also suffered from being lost even though she taught there for 14 years. She still felt out of place sometimes and awkward. I hope that she gains a new perspective and was able to share that with her peers after the experiment. I believe that this experiment could have had a big impact on how people view college students.
